What matters most in a powder room?
A powder room is usually 1.5–3 square metres, with a toilet and hand basin. In that footprint, a poor door swing, an oversized basin or a tight toilet clearance can make the whole room awkward to use.
We set out the fixtures and tiles around the real room before the scope is fixed. If the room has a floor waste and water supply, its floor still needs compliant waterproofing even though there is no shower.
The free on-site measure confirms the layout, what can stay and what needs to be rebuilt. You then receive the inclusions and price in writing before work starts. Every job is carried out under NSW Builder Licence 475204C and has a 10-year workmanship warranty.
What does the written scope cover?
These are the core stages across our packages. The fittings and tile coverage change by tier; the sequence and written responsibility for the work do not.
- Planning and design
- Demolition — floor protection, disconnection and removal of existing fittings, floor and wall tiles including old cement bedding, and complete off-site rubbish removal
- Electrical — safe disconnection, replacement power points and light switch
- Plumbing — safe disconnection and installation of new fittings
- Render or re-sheet walls
- Waterproofing to AS 3740 — primer plus two coats, certificate included
- Tiling — new screed to create falls to drains, all glues, tile trims, grouts and silicone
- Final clean before handover

Frequently asked questions about powder room renovations
What is the smallest a powder room can be?
Practically, around 0.8 m wide by 1.5 m deep — enough for a basin, a WC and room for the door to open. Any tighter and the room starts to feel cramped and can struggle to meet the minimum clearances around fixtures.
Do powder rooms really need waterproofing?
Yes. Under AS 3740-2021, any room with a floor waste and a water-supply fixture is a wet area, so the floor needs a compliant, certified waterproof membrane. The scope is smaller than a full bathroom — no shower walls, no hob — but the floor is not optional.
Can a small bathroom renovation like a powder room be done in less than a week?
A full powder room renovation that needs strip-out and new waterproofing cannot skip the membrane curing time before tiling. The owner-supplied powder-room scope puts that work at around seven working days; the final program is set after the room has been measured.
Can a powder room add value to my home?
A well-designed, well-finished powder room is one of the strongest per-dollar value adds in a Sydney home, particularly if the property doesn't already have a downstairs WC. It gives guests somewhere to go without walking through a bedroom-adjacent bathroom, and adds a design moment to the public part of the house.
